Hi guys! Yeah, late I know. Wifi issues meant I had no wifi over the weekend and yesterday but everything is back up and running. This post was supposed to come out on Sunday evening/Monday morning but it didn’t. There were shows that hadn’t aired for me when I had this post ready to go so I left them empty otherwise it would mess up my weekly posts.
Other than that, I think we had a great first week! It’ll be interesting to see how this season of anime turns out!
Banana Fish – ep 13
This might actually be one of my favourite episodes so far and it has nothing to do with the fact that Ash was quoting my favourite Hemingway work. I actually liked the way this story was picked to frame the narrative this week because Ash’s interpretation of it shows that his view of the world and himself is quite bleak to say the least. Hence, he needs Eiji to keep him grounded and be his guide and that is precisely why Eiji needs to see all the sides of Ash and be the one to accept him wholly. I think that’s why that last scene was so important. Even after seeing him kill someone, the one thing Eiji didn’t want or need to see, he still calls Ash his friend and is still concerned for him.
Fairy Tail 2018 – ep 1
This just reminded me how much I dislike Lucy’s character (there I said it) and why that has always made Fairy Tail just slightly less enjoyable for me. I think this was a very weird episode because it was a sad episode but they were trying really hard to make it a happy episode and echo the atmosphere of the show before the last big fight. Unfortunately, this just made things feel awkward but I get that it couldn’t have been anything else really. That being said, I am looking forward to seeing how much these characters have grown in the upcoming fight against Orachi Fin and if Wendy changes her mind (she probably will).
Gintama. Gin no Tamashii-hen 2nd Season – ep 14
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! This show just went and ended with that?! I’m not mad, I just find that extremely hilarious! In true Gintama fashion, the first half gets more and more absurd as things progress and that was funny as it was but then we move to a courtroom setting where Gin moans about the problems of creating the latest seasons of Gintama and puts Sorachi on trial for this mess. I mean that’s just funny. He does pardon Sorachi and the season ends but what in the earth happens next?! Since the manga isn’t finished, I do hope for another season at some point in time but who knows what will happen?
Goblin Slayer – ep 1
The world of this anime is brutal! Almost a whole party gets killed off, there’s gang rape and gruesome deaths as well with a lot of blood splattering everywhere. I liked that what we saw everything through the Priestess’s perspective because her terror and inexperience really came through as did the group’s that she was with. Plus, her view of the Goblin Slayer made a lot of sense. He is a brutal fighter but he knows what he is doing and how to survive so even if she doesn’t think it’s right, she knows following him will mean she can survive in this world and gain experience plus, he gains a healer. I’m not sure if I’m looking forward to this or not. I guess it all rides on how the goblins and this relationship between the Priestess and Slayer comes across.
Golden Kamuy Season 2 – ep 1
Has not aired yet.
Overlord III – ep 13
The final episode of Overlord was much calmer and swifter than I expected. Gazef barely flinched before her was finished off by Ains but at least his death left a message for the Brain and Climb. It’s interesting that the sword can do damage to Ains but, that would be of no use unless they can find a way to get close to him. With e Sorcerer Kingdom now established, I guess it’s easier for Ains to play his two roles. The fact that he is using Momon as an intermediary between him and the humans might not work or it may work, who knows. Either way, he has his kingdom and the Emperor has realised how absurd his plan is. Will we get another season? Hopefully because I want to see more.
Run with the Wind – ep 1
As a sucker for sports anime, it was a given that I’d watch this. This first episode was interesting and truly fast. We’re briefly introduced to the ten members that will form the team and boy are they all different! That said, I am interested to see how this plays out because Haiji seems like an interesting character who may actually have the best story out of all the boys, save the literature major (of course). One thing I did really enjoy about this episode was how it was very much its title. It was fast, like the wind and, there were a lot of wind related noises scattered throughout the episode which was quite nice. Other than that, we’ll see how this one plays out.
Skeleton Bookstore Employee Honda – ep 1
Has not aired yet.
Sword Art Online: Alicization – ep 1
I am sold and thoroughly invested so please be seriously good! This underworld for one, is beautiful, and not very right in the head if it wants to execute a girl for simply placing a couple of fingers in a place she’s not supposed two. Kirito’s explanation of the STL system went over my head but it seems rather interesting. I also liked the parts in GGO and I do feel that will be relevant down the line. I mean the last member from Laughing Coffin turned up with a weapon that was used for the GGO murders and attacked Kirito which was something they were talking about so I don’t think the GGO scenes were there for the sake of it. I could be wrong but I hope I’m not. Either way this Underworld looks like it has a pretty good story to tell and I’m here for the long haul so this better be a better ride than anything SAO has offered thus far!
Shingeki no Kyojin Season 3 – ep 11
Another info dump. How many more of these are there going to be before we get some action again? I liked seeing the progress that has occurred since we last saw these guys with Historia doing her role as queen and Eren mastering his new ability enough to start plugging holes and helping Hange create a new weapon. However, that was just the first little bit. Most of this episode focused on Keith’s flashback starting from how he met Grisha to when Eren became a cadet really. It’s interesting that Grisha was found on the other side of the walls with no memories but what’s more telling is that when push came to shove, he dumped whatever he set out to do, onto Eren and ran away from his own responsibilities leaving Eren with an extra bag of secrets for good measure.
Tsurune: Kazemai High School’s Archery Club – ep 1
