Hi guys! So a while ago I was nominated by Railgunfan for this tag. Thank you so much for nominating me!
- Write a post about anime, naming your favorite thing(s) about it. Be as personal or impersonal as you’d like to be; maybe write about how it helped you through a tough time, or taught you something, or just how much fun you’ve had with it.
- Nominate 3 bloggers for the challenge.
- Link back to the original post- you will find the link here.
Why I love anime is actually really difficult for me to explain because I’ve never sat down to think about it. It’s like asking me why I love reading, another hobby that I can’t explain. Seriously, I don’t know why I love anime.
If I had to give a reason, it’s because I enjoy it. For me, anime gives me happiness and is a great way for me to relax after doing a lot of work. One of the reasons I turn to anime is because each episode, and usually each season, is pretty short so I can watch a lot more varied content in less time than say western tv shows.
Plus, the characters in anime are really fun to watch especially in sports anime or shows like Natsume or Gintama. Somehow I always end up with an emotional connection to characters from shows like that and I have fun watching no matter what they do. It’s sort of the same feeling I get towards characters in a book. I get attached to them and when the book ends, I’m sad that their story has come to an end. That’s how I feel about certain characters in anime and I’ve never felt like that when it comes to western shows. I don’t know, they don’t draw me in the same way.
Aside from that, art style, music, stories and the themes explored all play a part in creating a medium that I’ve come to love so much. So yeah, super hard to explain why I love anime because I love everything about the medium.
I didn’t realise how difficult this would be to write until I sat down to write it hence it’s so short and not that good. Sometimes it’s difficult to explain why one is drawn to something or why one loves something because it just happens. That feeling is important but hard to put into words really.
