  • Ask them seven questions.

Real Neat Blog Award

Megan’s questions:

1) What is the best advice someone has ever given you?

To believe in my own decisions even if other’s think they’re wrong. Honestly I wouldn’t be where I am without this advice. I used to second guess my decisions all the time thinking what I was doing and the path I was going down was wrong or not good enough. Being told to believe in my own decisions gave me the confidence to voice and follow my own dreams. I’m not bound to anyone so this should have been obvious be we often let others dictate our life choices leading to us second guessing our own decisions. It’s not healthy.

2) Which fantasy world would you like to visit the most?

Harry Potter hands down. Who doesn’t want to go to Hogwarts and experience the craziness of school?

3) What is the best thing that the internet has ever created?

I’ll say memes. They’re probably the best creations to come out of the internet.

4) What lessons have you learned from video games?

I don’t play video games so I can’t really answer this question. However, I’ll say what I’ve learnt from fiction.

I’ve learnt that fantasy is not an escape from reality because fantasy depicts reality just in a different way.

5) What book/movie/video game character do you secretly admire?

Secretly admire? That’s a difficult one because I don’t really look up to fictional characters as much as I do the creators of the characters. However, if I had to pick one, I’d go with Jane from Jane Eyre. I think that was the first Victorian novel I read that had a strong female lead. She really won me over with her desire for an independent lifestyle and equality in what she did. She still is one of my favourite characters.

Jane Eyre

6) What is your actual superpower?

Eh um I’m not quite sure. I think I’ll say the ability to juggle a lot of commitments and not get stressed out by it all. I don’t get stressed out by my load because I know when I need to take a break from things to prioritise other things which is why I tend to step away from the blog during assessment season.

7) What weapon would you carry during the Zombie Apocalypse?

Do I have to carry a weapon and step outside? Can’t I just hide somewhere with my stash of food, laptop and phone and get others to bring me stuff when I need it? There’s no way I’m stepping outside if there’s zombie’s out and about unless they’re like the ones from Boyfriend of the Dead.

Once again thank you Megan for nominating me and for the questions! They were fun to answer! 🙂

  1. Jane Eyre? Heh. When it comes to victorian literature we seem to have a little different tastes. I liked her as a child, but as she grew up all those victorian moral crept to the fore front, and she started to annoy me a little (never much, though). By the end of the book I shipped her with Rochester so they take each other off the market. I rooted for Bertha. Burn it all down, I say.

    • Fair enough. To be fair, I don’t really agree with the ending since it undermines all her values but whatever.
Oooo if you liked Bertha’s character, you might enjoy Wide Sargasso Sea since that’s a take on what her life was like before and when she met Rochester.

      • Spot on. I really enjoyed Wide Sargasso Sea. Jean Rhys seems to have a writing style I like, too,

As far as I recall, the ending is the most common criticism of the novel. Have you read Jasper Fforde’s Eyre Affair – the take on the ending is priceless.

  2. I agree, it’s important to have conviction and understand that while other people might have good intentions, at the end of the day you know yourself best and have to trust that. I get called stubborn all the time exactly this.

Also love that quote regarding fantasy.

Thanks for the tag and questions!

  3. “Harry Potter hands down. Who doesn’t want to go to Hogwarts and experience the craziness of school? ”

Wouldn’t that be awesome? What house do you think you’d be in? I think I’d probably be in Ravenclaw.

“Do I have to carry a weapon and step outside? ”

    Can’t argue with that logic!

Thanks for the nomination! And thanks for the interesting questions. I’ll try to post my answers soon!

  4. Thank you for the nomination. I’ve done this award before so I’ll leave my answers to your questions here:

What do you enjoy the most about blogging?
The community surrounding it. I think that answer’s a bit of a cliche at this point, but it’s true.

What anime had the biggest impact on you?
I’d say Sailor Moon since it both set me on the path to being an anime fan and instilled a passionate love of magical girls in me.

What genre of anime do you enjoy the most?
If the watching challenges are any indication, the answer is action, but my list statistics say comedy. Personally, I can argue why almost any genre is my favourite so it doesn’t really matter.

Do you ever revisit older posts you’ve written?
I sometimes read old posts for nostalgia’s sake and maybe snipe some old typoes I never noticed, but I don’t outright overhaul them.

What is your favourite post that you’ve written?
Normally, I’d go with the SGRS post I started the blog with, but after the Animanga Festival post on my best content, I think I need to change my answer…I think it might have to be the Konobi episode 12 one (the latter was part of Yomu’s collab) at the moment, but my answer could change again in the future.

What anime do you think needs more attention?
Rokuhoudou Yotsuiro Biyori was the first anime to come to mind. A lot of people passed over it when it was airing because it started at the end of its premiere season, but it’s a very competent piece of slice of life, with good food, good boys and nice scenery with occasional cats.

If you could pick an animal from an anime to keep as a pet, who would you pick?
If I could stretch the idea of “animal” a bit, Moja (Fuzzy) from Morose Mononokean. If it’s strictly an animal from anime though, I’d say Ukogi from Demon Slayer/Kimetsu no Yaiba.
