Hi guys! I was tagged by Voyager for the put a tune to it tag. Thank you for tagging me and now let’s see how bad I am at this.
- Choose any number of western songs (any genre) that you think best sums up an anime or manga of any type or genre.
- If you want to pick more than 1 from each section that’s fine. Or if you can’t think of one for a specific category that’s fine also.
- Explain why you think your choices could work. Is it the lyrics? The tune and the beat? Or just the music video?
- Link back to the original post.
- Include Put a Tune to It in your tags so everyone including myself can find them all easily.
- Nominate around 1-5 bloggers.
Okay, I found this quite difficult to do because I hardly listen to western music anymore these days but I managed to come up with something so hopefully it’s okay!
Shouwa Genroku Rokugo Shunjuu (Specifically the relationships)
Only Love Can Hurt Like This by Paloma Faith
The love most of the characters have in this anime hurts them in some way or the other. It’s painful but they can’t escape from it because they want to drown in it and this song sums that up pretty well. The song is on the dramatic side of things but the lyrics definitely work.
March Comes in Like a Lion or The Ancient Magus’ Bride
I’ll Be There by Jess Glynne
Both anime are quite different but they deal with issues surrounding loneliness albeit a result of very different things. However, both feature characters who become support pillars for others and that’s what the sing is about. The tune doesn’t exactly fit I don’t think but the lyrics definitely do.
Lose You to Love Me by Selena Gomez
The characters in Scum’s Wish had to give up the unhealthy relationships they had in order to learn to love themselves and start over. Different parts of the song fit the different characters and their relationships so this one fits pretty well I’d say.
Everglow by Coldplay
An emotional song for an emotional anime both about loss and how special this lost one was. Especially when Violet realises the Major is dead and his memories is all she has. Plus, the simplicity of this song works really well with Violet Evergarden.
Run Through Walls by The Script
Kakeru’s friends literally time travelled to save him because they cared more about saving him than keeping the future they knew they could have had. The song is about having these kinds of friends who are with you through thick and thin.
Any romance anime
If My Heart was a House by Owl City
The song is about being home when you’re with the one you love and this sort of fits a lot of romance anime. The song is all about being with that person who makes you feel comfortable and at home with them. Someone you can trust and can come back to no matter what and most of the relationships we see in romance anime are like that. The song is beautiful and slow and it does remind me of Zen and Shirayuki (I’m not quite sure why) so that’s why for me this works with romance anime.
