Autumn 2019 – Top 5

Hi guys! The 2019 Autumn season of anime ended but I hadn’t finished watching everything until this week hence this post is slightly late. It’s surprising because I wasn’t watching that many shows to begin with. Nothing but uni to blame for that.

That did make the list both easy and difficult to make. Easy because I only had a handful of shows to pick from and difficult because only four were really entertaining. Oh well, this list will do!

Vinland Saga cover1) Vinland Saga

The second cour of Vinland Saga was epic and nothing short of it. It was perfect in every way from all the murder and plotting to Canute and Thorfinn’s character development. I loved every moment of it and am honestly glad I watched it. I hope they make another season because I really want to know what Thorfinn plans to do now.

My Hero Academia Season 4 cover2) My Hero Academia

MHA was amazing. There was a lot of set up in the first couple of episodes which did give it quite a slow pace but once everything was in place, MHA was just as good as ever! They did a wonderful job with Lemillion’s character and I hope he gets his quirk back because it would honestly be heart breaking if he didn’t.

Sword Art Online Alicization - War of Underworld cover3) Sword Art Online: Alicization War of the Underworld

I have to say, this season of SAO surprised me. I enjoyed it more than previous seasons and I quite liked the way the war played out. Asuna had one of the best entrances and the mixing of reality and the game world was quite interesting. I just wish it had ended on a better note but at least we know there’s another season coming.

Hoshiai no Sora cover4) Stars Align

I really enjoyed Stars Align and what it had to explore in terms of family relationships. The sport was there but the family drama happening throughout did steal the show. It’s a shame the anime ended in more of a cliff-hanger than a true resolution. It had quite an interesting run but the ending was quite disappointing.

Nanatsu no Taizai Kamigami no Gekirin cover5) Seven Deadly Sins: Wrath of the Gods

A lot of backstory and very little action this season but it did explain a lot of things that needed explaining like Gowther and Elizabeth. I didn’t mind all the backstory because it helped to understand the characters better and it does mean now we can move onto the action without any problems. Hopefully the second cour will be better than the first.

  1. I’ve really enjoyed this season of My Hero Academia too, though I agree that it got off to a bit of a slow start. I’ve seen a lot of people talking about Stars Align but I haven’t checked it out yet. I’ll have to give it a try.

  2. I’m still gutted that Vinland Saga was an Amazon exclusive and I don’t have that service… With SAO and Seven Deadly Sins, I’ve only seen season one so need to do some catching up I think.
